Why Rooted HR?

Throughout the course of my professional career, I’ve had a front row seat to what truly makes organizations tick – the people. How well an organization functions is always, at least in part, predicated on the intentionality of the business to do right by their people.

When I think about a strong, healthy organization, I think about an “olive tree.” An olive tree can live for thousands of years and bear abundant fruit that entire time, but only because it has strong roots that can regenerate themselves even when their above-ground structure is destroyed by frost, fire and disease.

The initial root (known as the taproot) anchors the tree firmly in the ground. Initially, this was you and maybe a core team of other visionaries who started the business. Later, a widespread network of lateral roots spread horizontally, and absorbs water and nutrients from the top layers of the soil. This collection of “roots” is your people.

Your business will undoubtedly go through hard times, challenges, and changes. The organization that takes the time to lay a foundation of people centered programs, policies, practices, systems and initiatives will weather these storms with greater success – because the “roots” on your team have what they need to succeed.
